We stopped at this park on our way back from Asheville a few weeks ago and thought a lot of it so we returned for a few more days. The park itself is large and includes a smallish campground, group camping, primitive camping, a lot of day visit facilities, boat ramp, small camp store, and...a golf course. It's about 9 miles from Waycross, GA if you need major stores.
Our campsite, #8, is one of 5 on the lake. No shade, but it's winter time and we enjoyed the warmth of the sun by day and the cool nights.
The campground has 44 sites, on an inner loop and outer loop. The loop roads are smooth and a little narrowish, but not hard to navigate. The inner loop is a little more difficult for large rigs, but manageable. There are no low overhanging trees to worry about. Only two sites have full hook-ups. The rest have 50, 30, 20 amp and water. Sites 5, 6, 8, & 12 are lake front sites. They are wide, level gravel sites.
Entering the campground. The inner loop entrance is on the left. On the right is a field for sports, etc, and a large pavilion for gatherings.
Most of the sites have full or partial shade, are gravel, level and wide. They are not close together for the most part and angled for privacy.
Clouds and contrails on a wintry day. Nice. This is our view from the "patio".
There is a swimming area but this is not it. The swimming area is near the campground along with a boat launch, playground and picnic facilities.
There is a lot of hiking and biking to been done at this park. Didn't get the opportunity this trip. But we'll be back.
